Our family is deeply saddened to inform you that Sarge passed away Friday night. This blog was one of his deepest passions and he enjoyed interacting with each and every one of you, except for Joe. He thought Joe was an asshole. Thank you for reading and frequenting this blog. Sincerely, Sarge's son, Private. Edit: Thank you to everyone that's replied and offered their condolences. You all meant as much to him as he meant to you.
Godspeed and a sharp salute from Captain J. (also known as the Grey Stranger). This blog was one of the best. An awesome mix of humor, satire, and political commentary. Sarge will be sorely missed. And all us here at Command Center Alpha (our family)send our prayers and condolences to you and all of yours.
Very sorry to hear about Sarge's passing. This blog has been a source of joy and laughter for a long time, Sarge did a great job. Thank you for letting us know and allowing us to share in your grief (even if only from a distance).
Hi Private, "Skybill" here... 'Loved your dad.. he was one cool guy!! I think along with that he was a "Military man" I took him to the "Far Side" when as a Military men that do things like be "Paratroopers" I took him to where we do that "Just for FUN!!" All Flags to half mast. All Beer and Whiskey glasses will be raised "HIGH!!" in Tribute!!

Condolences sir, and thank you for posting. Sarge's blog was a weekly go to for years. His wit, sense of humor and honor for our military made his one of my favorites. He will be missed.

My daily routine always included several stops at "A Herd of Turtles". Sarge will be missed, but rest assured he blessed many people with his wit, intelligence and humor.
