First picture reminds me of most of the pictures I have seen of my family over the years. My Grandfather was a share cropper in the (at that time) rural part of Knoxville TN. My Father had to get up and bring in firewood so his mother could cook breakfast. Then it was off to collect eggs,grab meat from the smoke house and milk from the cows. Afterwards he headed back out to feed the animals. He got to come in to eat breakfast and get ready for school. It was so cold in the cabin that they lived in the water on the bed side table would freeze ( HVAC? What is that I was 13 before I ever had it) If you had it you earned it back then.
