I carry with a round in the chamber. It happens to be a Springfield Armory XD40 and I don't even have to worry about remembering to flick a safety tab since it only has a grip safety.
Alternatively, I carry a Taurus .357 double-action wheel gun. No worry about pre-cocking it or flicking off a safety.
