Yeah, my 2005 Hyundai Tucson had one in it and I used it all the time. When I traded it in on a 2013 Tucson, the new one only had the sockets that looked like lighter receptacles. No sweat, thought I, I'll just put the lighter from the 2005 in it. Doesn't work. There's no little titty at the bottom of the socket to contact the center of the lighter. Never got around to fixing that situation. I went the easy way and just keep a couple butanes in the cup holder along with an ashtray, which newer cars don't have. I sure do also miss wing windows for tossing ashes..........
I sure do miss those little conveniences (wing windows - cigarette lighters - truck bench seats - metal headliners). I don't smoke anymore, gave it up over 20 years ago, but for the sake of nostalgia, I'll take it.
The first time I saw one was in my dad's '54 Studebaker wagon. He left me in the car while he ran inside. I pushed it in, and when it popped out, it was a pretty cherry red. So pretty, that I put my tongue in it, only to fling it out the window when the searing pain hit me. I was four.
