Because officially we fought under the UN flag. Those fallen were US service members fighting under the control of the UN.

They all signed up and were sworn in under the US flag. They lived, fought and died under the US flag. They will be buried under the US flag.
That blue thing? Doesn't matter one bit. It's all for show and to cover international butt-hurts and maybe even a little dig at us by the NORKs. Ignore the smoke and mirrors. I don't see anything other than a colored box wrapper.
What matters is that these remains are United States remains. That's all. They are part of us, part of the USA. Always part of the Red, White and Blue.

How many people remember or even know that 30 days consecutive or 60 days overall served in Korea after the cease fire qualifies one for VFW membership?
The War is still going on. Troops are at risk today under the same evil country as in '53 when both Koreas decided to stop actively shooting at each other.
I am glad we finally have a President strong and willing enough to attempt to end the war overall.
As to who is in those boxes, the military has gotten very good at figuring out who is whom. Hope it doesn't take too long, as their loved ones are old and getting older each day.
