First post Viet Nam "Week of The Eagles," must have been '72 or '73, some genius (probably a 2LT) came up with the idea to Pass in Review with the left side showing so that all the then black, white, and gold 101st patches were "on review." Division came out of formation with a "Column Left, March!" command followed by two more left turns to the "Pass in Review." "Eyes Left" and everyone marching past salutes their right ear. It was awesome. Thank goodness I didn't have to do that as I was part of the flying demonstration later that day. It looks as though cooler heads have prevailed since. The "idea mister" might have been the same one who later called the CG at Quarters to report that we had left those "blue missiles" (SS-11) on our Mike Models unsecured, overnight (inert/ert?). regards, Alemaster
I was just an aviator, bogsidebunny, but according to FM 22-5, page 97, para 130c., the company or battalion formation changes direction via the command of "turn." Regardless, an "Eyes, Left" is unusual. respectfully, Alemaster
