Saw them first in a performance at a NAS near Miami in the early 50's. My father was in the Naval reserve at the time and we got very close to the flight line. I forget the aircraft they used then. Possibly Panthers.
In the early 70's I saw them Perform at the Reading, Pennsylvania air show. They were flying F-4 Phantoms then. What a hell of a loud aircraft, but the Angels made those monsters dance.
Next in the mid-70" I saw them at Reading again. Now they were flying "scooters" or A4 Skyhawks. What a great plane for aerobatics. Small, nimble and a strong airframe.
My last experience was seeing them was in 2001 at the Marine Corps Air station Cherry Point, NC. They were driving F/A-18's at that point.
What a fantastic experience every performance was. I wish I had taken photos then.
